Mechanical Engineering Labs
Precision Machines. Practical Skills. Professional Engineers.
The EdNex Mechanical Engineering Lab gives students hands-on experience with the core tools, materials, and processes that underpin modern mechanical engineering — from raw material testing through to CNC machining and 3D-printed prototypes.
What's Included
Our standard Mechanical Engineering Lab package covers five core practice areas:
Workshop & Manufacturing
- Conventional lathe machines (bench and floor models)
- Milling machines — horizontal and vertical
- Drilling machines — pillar and radial arm
- Bench grinders and surface grinding machines
- Welding stations — MIG, TIG, and arc
CNC & CAD/CAM
- CNC milling and turning centres with educational controllers (Fanuc/Siemens)
- CAD/CAM software licences — SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Fusion 360
- Post-processing workstations with G-code simulation
3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping
- FDM printers (PLA/ABS/PETG) — desktop and semi-industrial
- Resin SLA printers for high-detail prototypes
- Filament storage and post-curing stations
Materials Testing
- Universal Testing Machine (UTM) — tension, compression, bending, shear
- Hardness testers — Rockwell, Vickers, Brinell
- Impact testing — Charpy and Izod
- Fatigue testing apparatus
Metrology & Measurement
- Vernier callipers, micrometers, and height gauges (sets of 30+)
- CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) — optional for advanced labs
- Surface roughness tester

Curriculum Alignment
The EdNex Mechanical Lab supports the following core subjects across most accredited BE/BTech programmes:
- Engineering Drawing & CAD (Year 1)
- Workshop Practice & Manufacturing Processes (Year 1–2)
- Strength of Materials & Material Science (Year 2)
- Machine Design & CNC Programming (Year 3)
- Capstone Design & Prototyping (Year 4)
Lab Design & Setup
EdNex provides a complete floor-plan layout service. A typical Mechanical Engineering Lab is designed for 20–30 students per session and includes dedicated zones for:
- Machining zone (with appropriate safety guards and ventilation)
- Digital fabrication zone (3D printing, laser cutting)
- Measurement & testing zone
- Student demonstration and briefing area
